We are looking for a talented engineer to join our team in Sydney or Goulburn as a Technical Product Manager (Mechanical). If you enjoy working as part of a collaborative team, this is the role for you!

Our 100% Australian owned business is truly entrepreneurial. We design, engineer, manufacture and install service bodies for utes, trucks and trailers.

About the role

The Technical Product Manager’s role is to manage the Mechanical portfolio of Hidrive’s range, understanding the market and strategically plan for new products and updates. The role will ensure that our products are fit for purpose, item data is reliable and pricing is accurate, margins are maintained and that supporting information is completed. This position is part of the National Technical Team within the overarching Hidrive Engineering Department. Some of the key responsibilities are:

  • Manage Item data, ensure it is up to date and accurate.
  • Manage price list and ensure price list are up to date and accurate. And that margin is maintained.
  • Manage product updates and ensure change control ECNs are implemented.
  • Develop MRD’s Define scope and deliverables for new products and product improvements.
  • Understand the market and ensure that Hidrive remains competitive and market leader.
  • Define application of new and existing products to ensure relevance in existing and future markets.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering to ensure products are fit for purpose.
  • Collaborate with sales team to ensure that customer pricing levels are managed for best results.
  • Collaborate with marketing to create product documentations and collateral.
  • Collaborate with supply chain to create and manage sell skills.
  • Collaborate with Operations on new product or product changes and quality issues.
  • Develop and maintain a product road map.
  • Supporter of Continuous improvement.
  • Experience in working closely with multiple departments to always deliver front of market outcomes for our customers and the business.
  • Passionate about developing a deep understanding of the mobile workforce and being able to meet their needs in a way that is consistent and scalable.
  • Understand and use ERP systems.
  • Ability to communicate through digital means projects and products.

About you

We need a task orientated manager that can leverage from a practical background to develop and integrate thorough systems and standards throughout the design and implementation of Hidrive’s product. Key working relationships exist between, sales, marketing, supply chain, operations and the customer success team.

You have a strong understanding of engineering drawings, build specifications and quality control processes. Other core competencies include:

  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies
  • Timely completion of first-of-type manufacturing projects
  • Adherence to build specifications and compliance requirements
  • Efficiency improvements and successful implementation of process optimisations

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related field
  • Experience within a manufacturing, automotive or industrial environment
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks, regulatory standards and engineering best practices
