About the role
Founded in 2001, Tritium (NASDAQ: DCFC) designs and manufactures proprietary hardware and software to create advanced and reliable DC fast chargers for electric vehicles. Tritium’s compact and robust chargers are designed to look great on Main Street and thrive in harsh conditions, through technology engineered to be easy to install, own, and use. Tritium is focused on continuous innovation in support of our customers around the world.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for supporting the design and development of mechanical components and systems, throughout the full product development lifecycle.
- Build stable working relationships with interdisciplinary, cross-functional teams – Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality, Electrical, Electronic, and Software/Firmware Engineers, Industrial Designers, and Supply Chain and Production personnel.
- Follow standard Tritium Product Development practices and procedures.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE).
- Conduct research and literature reviews of topics/technologies specific to sub-system and/or components.
- Interpret system, sub-system, and component requirements and appropriate standards.
- Development of concepts for sub-systems and/or components.
- Perform hand/1D calculations and use Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) i.e., FEA, CFD.
- Development of detailed design and supporting documentation i.e., drawings, and/or Bill of Materials (BOM), for sub-systems and/or components.
- Development of Cost of Goods Sold (CoGS).
- Drafting of test plans for validation testing of sub-system and/or components.
- Support Engineering Technical Services (ETS) Team with conducting validation testing of sub-system and/or components.
- Complete New Product Integration (NPI) tasks.
About you
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- ≥5 years post-graduate engineering experience.
- Experience with low and/or high-volume manufacturing methods i.e., sheet metal fabrication, press/stamp metal, CNC milling/turning, 3D printing, injection moulding, die-casting etc.
- Sound understanding – experience preferable – of “Lean Six Sigma” framework and “V-Model” development cycle.
- Sound understanding – experience preferable – of the high-volume assembly line manufacturing process
- Hands-on and practical approach (demonstrated experience with prototype building preferable).
- Enthusiastic and highly motivated to further develop technical and professional skills.
- Willingness to contribute to an interdisciplinary, cross-functional team.
- Sound critical thinking skills.
- Ability to articulate work status effectively to team members and line manager.
- Willing to accept feedback graciously and learn from experience(s).
- Proficient with 3D parametric modeling software (proficiency in SolidWorks is desirable).
- Familiarity – experience desirable – with PLM software (preferably Windchill).
- Familiarity with AS/NZS, ANSI, ASME, and/or ISO drawing standards.
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Familiarity with industry standards for electric vehicle charging systems, such as IEC 61851 and UL 2202 is desirable.
