Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Supply Chain team on a full-time permanent basis. Reporting to the Manager - Mechanical Engineering. 

  About the Role

•    Design and develop mechanical products from requirements to production & commercial deployment.
•    Design of experiments, tests and proof-of-concept analysis and simulations of designs. 
•    Undertake design analysis, utilising FEA /experiments as well as hands-on prototyping/testing.
•    Generate solutions for a wide variety of product requirements (environmental, thermal etc.).
•    Collaborate with other disciplines to integrate PCBAs, sensors, & electro-mechanical items into designs.
•    Work with industrial designers to prototype and test product concepts and finalise product form. 
•    Generate & manage technical specifications, design data (3D / 2D) and technical product definitions. 
•    Evaluate and test mechanical components to specification and industry standards.
•    Conduct design reviews, simulations, and testing to validate and improve product designs.
•    Work with the New Product Introduction team to handover products to manufacturing.
•    Develop and review design progress, ensuring designs meet technical and performance requirements. 
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, negotiate, and validate requirements.
•    Any other duties consistent with the position as required.

About You

• 10+ years’ experience in designing products in consumer, medical or automotive industries.
• Experience with 3D modelling using Auto CAD, Inventor, SolidWorks or equivalent CAD Package 
• Experience working with other engineering disciplines - RF, Electronic, Electrical and Software
• Experience in common manufacturing processes such as Injection moulding, compression moulding, Die Casting, CNC, Extrusions, and sheet metal work. 
• Proficient in mechanical engineering principles and experimental design.
• Experience integrating RF, optical, sensors and/or electronics into mechanical designs.
• Experience working with part vendors on DFM, tooling bring up and validation.
• Experience working directly with Industrial Designers and knowledge of CMF specs.
• High level computer aptitude including 3D modelling / FEA / Engineering Calculations.
• Experience in working within Quality frameworks including ISO9001
