Hakka Foods, a market-leading brand in the FMCG industry, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Tradesperson to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and maintaining mechanical systems and equipment across all operational departments, and ensuring HACCP and WH&S obligations are continuously met. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, install, test and maintain equipment, appliances and fixtures using hand and power tools
  • Perform modification on machine parts as instructed
  • Inspect mechanical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, and the need for adjustment or repair
  • Test and troubleshoot mechanical equipment and fixtures
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components, to breakdown and correct the problem
  • Ensure WH&S systems and procedures are in place, compliant, operating effectively and efficiently, and continuously reviewed and improved
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Ensure Maintenance systems and procedures relating to routine preventative maintenance and breakdown responses are captured promptly and accurately
  • Ensure preventative maintenance and breakdown responses are assigned and actioned within acceptable timeframes
  • Keep accurate records of work performed

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years experience as a Maintenance Fitter or Mechanical Fitter with proven history in mechanical maintenance & repairs
  • General machining including use of lathes and milling machines.
  • General fitting including fitment and alignment of mechanical equipment (gearboxes, motors, pumps)
  • Locally-certified Fitter and Turner highly desirable
  • Overseas-certified Fitter and Turner also welcome
  • Basic welding (TIG and MIG)
  • Pneumatic & hydraulic experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Physical fitness level to be able to lift, handle and undertake general labouring and manual handling activities
  • High level of hand-eye coordination skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
