Position : Mechanical Maintainer ( Fixed Plant Fitter)
Location : Muchea. W.A (50 minutes north of Perth)
Contract: Permanent Full Time
Roster: 4 days on 4 days off / 4 nights on 4 days off
Are you an experienced Mechanical Maintainer looking for a role that offers a balance between work and lifestyle? Say goodbye to FIFO schedules and long commutes—at our Chandala Mineral Separation Plant, you’ll be home after every shift. Located at the end of Tonkin Highway in Muchea, our site is easily accessible for residents of Chittering, Swan, Joondalup, and Wanneroo.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and repairing a wide range of mechanical plant and equipment at our Chandala Processing Plant.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the reliability and integrity of plant and equipment by proactively identifying, reporting, and preventing mechanical failures.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks and deliver high-quality workmanship on all repairs.
Respond promptly and effectively to unplanned breakdowns to minimise downtime and maintain production continuity.
Complete all required documentation accurately, ensuring detailed and precise information is entered into Tronox’s Maintenance Systems.
Foster a strong safety culture by actively identifying, reporting, and helping mitigate hazards.
Work collaboratively as part of the shift team and assist operators with equipment preparation, isolation, and start-up activities when required.
Record operational and maintenance information, and contribute suggestions to improve plant performance and reliability.
Essential Criteria
Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical (Fitting), OR Equivalent trade qualification recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).”
Current Drivers’ Licence
Demonstrated experience working Day/night shift rosters
Full working rights to live and work in Australia, with no visa restrictions.
To be successful in this role it would be highly beneficial to have
At least 5 years’ post apprenticeship experience as a FIXED plant Mechanical Maintainer.
Experience working in process plant continuous operation environment, ideally within mining
Expertise working in plant equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, screens, separation equipment, structural, mechanical, and piping works
Experience responding to breakdowns, conducting fault finding, and performing troubleshooting in a live production environment.
SAP experience
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently on shift when required.
Team-oriented and flexible, with a willingness to work additional hours where necessary.
A demonstrated commitment to safe work practices.
