Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, this role presents an excellent opportunity for a motivated Mechanical Fitter to join our high-performing team at our Mount Thorley, New South Wales site.

The Mechanical Fitter’s primary purpose is to assemble, install, repair, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment, such as ladders, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical parts, production machines, and equipment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assemble, repair, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment, such as ladders, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical parts, production machines, and equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, diagnosis, and repair work on Hedweld products as required.
  • Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Prepare mechanical condition reports and estimate repair times.
  • Perform general installation, repair, and modifications to fluid power systems in a timely manner.
  • Investigate warranty issues and resolve them in the best interest of the consumer and supplier.
  • Inspect work in progress and finished products to ensure products are of appropriate quality and conform to engineering principles, company standards, customer requirements, and related specifications.
  • Analyse work orders and blueprints to determine information such as materials to be used, type of operations, and sequence of operations required.
  • Adhere to company policies and undertake safe working practices and procedures.

Essential Criteria

  • Trade Qualification (Plant Mechanic/Fitter Mechanical/Hydraulic Fitter).
  • Similar experience (preferably with hydraulics experience).
  • Site work experience (preferably in the mining/heavy vehicle sector).
  • Microsoft Suite - Intermediate.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Current driver's licence.

Desirable Criteria

  • Forklift Ticket.
  • Working at Heights Ticket.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and troubleshoot LV electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, including drawings/schematics interpretation.
  • Mine inductions - Advantageous.
