We are at the forefront of commercialising hypersonic flight, with a bold vision to become the world leader in sustainable hypersonic flight technology. As we expand into the global aerospace and satellite launch markets, our long-term dream is to one day fly to space—pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in high-speed, high-altitude flight.

The Role

As the Mechanical Engineering Lead, you will lead a team of engineers through the full engineering lifecycle to design and build hypersonic flight vehicles and associated support equipment. This role combines technical leadership with people management, including mentoring and developing junior engineers, overseeing mechanical engineering outputs, and providing expert guidance across the broader engineering team. You’ll be responsible for ensuring adherence to engineering processes and guidelines, while also identifying opportunities to improve and evolve those processes to support innovation and delivery.

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of a team of mechanical engineers and mentor and support their technical development.
  • Act as the mechanical subject matter expert, offering guidance across the broader engineering team.
  • Review and approve design and analysis of mechanical structures and systems for hypersonic vehicles and supporting ground equipment (Production / Test Jigs).
  • Ensure mechanical designs are assessed for Design for Manufacture, Reliability, and the conduct of Failure Modes Effects and Analysis.
  • Contribute to the development of new technologies and processes.
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers and designers to ensure that the mechanical integrity and performance of the vehicles is maintained.
  • Provide guide in the use of computer simulations and analysis tools to evaluate the performance of components and systems under different operating conditions.
  • Interact with suppliers and customers for all mechanical elements.
  • Manage Mechanical Design resource planning and project allocation in line with business objectives and strategic goals.
