About Us:

Quantum-Systems is at the forefront of autonomous, AI-powered aerial robotics globally. Our Australian subsidiary, Quantum-Systems Australia, operates in the Defence, Security, and Commercial markets, specialising in Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (UAS) in the Asia-Pacific region.

Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and components for unmanned aerial vehicles for both air and ground systems. This role will require a hands-on approach for designing components, building and testing prototypes and finalising engineering data for series production.

Responsibilities:

  • Development and design of UAV structural components and manufacturing tools (CATIA V5).
  • Design and development of ground support equipment.
  • Design and calculation (MATLAB, Python, VB.NET, Excel).
  • Integration of subsystems and payload in UAV on the hardware level.
  • Integrate mechanical and electrical systems with avionics, propulsion, and other subsystems.
  • Conduct system testing, including bench testing & ground testing.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, facilitating transparent and effective communication across the organisation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality metrics across assigned projects.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required

  • Tertiary degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering, ideally within the UAS or aerospace or defence sector.
  • Proficiency in using CAD software (preferred CATIA V5).
  • Knowledge of PLM systems.
  • Knowledge of UAS systems, including avionics, propulsion, communication, and control systems.
  • Experience in rapid prototyping technologies.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
  • Australian Citizenship and ability to hold a Security Clearance.

Desired

  • Experience in composite design (part and mould).
  • Good understanding of electrical systems.
  • Ability to build mechanical and electrical prototypes.
  • Ability to comprehend and analyse complex problems and develop solutions.
