Mechanical Design Engineer

About this role:

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to play a key role in the design and development of new and existing products across Rubicon’s portfolio. In this role, you’ll be involved throughout the entire product development cycle, working closely with the broader engineering team to refine ideas and lift the quality of our designs. You’ll be part of a team that values technical rigour, continuous improvement to maintain strong engineering capability within the business.

Key responsibilities:

• Researching new parts and technologies for integration into innovative design solutions;
• Mechanical systems design and development;
• Produce CAD models, assemblies and drawings in SolidWorks to support engineering tasks.
• Testing and troubleshooting of new/existing designs.
• Preparing engineering documentation, including test requests, reports and bills of materials.
• Research components, materials and technologies to support design decisions
• Support the implementation of new products going into production.
• Liaison with suppliers, manufacturing and other internal/external stakeholders.
• Input to support the development of users manuals and technical support documentation.
• Contribute to creating and updating engineering standards and similar baseline documentation.

Skills & experience:

• Degree in Mechancial Engineering.
• Demonstrated technical abilities applicable to Mechanical Engineering design and development including manual calcs.
• Experience in 3D modelling and detailing abilities in Solidworks.
• Ability to utilise FEA and CFD within Solidworks to verify designs and correlate to manual calculations.
• Knowledge of Australian drafting standards, using the Solidworks.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines while providing quality products.
• Good understanding of manufacturing principles.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organisational and decision-making skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to work in a team environment.
