About the opportunity:

The Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineer reports to the Engineering Design and Manufacturing Manager and is part of the Manufacturing Engineering team. Working closely with manufacturing and automation engineers, the key focus of this role is to manage technical in-house R&D manufacturing projects, actively participate in  design and commissioning of mechanical systems, and provide ongoing support for both new and existing equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.  More specifically, you will:
•Oversee the mechanical design of manufacturing equipment, translating concepts into build ready solutions 
•Own the end to end engineering lifecycle, from project definition, equipment design, and technical drawings through to installation and commissioning 
•Act as SME for Mechanical Design and Development
•Drive productivity and capacity improvements through mechanical design, automation integration, and equipment development 
•Produce detailed equipment designs, drawings, functional specifications, and component selections 
•Hands-on design and drafting support for in-house mechanical development
•Manage internal and external engineering activities, including suppliers, fabrication partners, and procurement 
•Liaise with on-site manufacturing technicians
•Support production by troubleshooting mechanical issues, implementing equipment upgrades, and delivering safe, compliant engineering changes

About you:
You will share a passion for our purpose and be aligned to our core values; better together, be accountable, people matter and think bigger. In addition, you will have the following experience:
•Skilled engineering background (Mechanical / Manufacturing / Mechatronic Engineer) with relevant tertiary degree
•5+ years proven experience in Mechanical design and development
•CAD modelling skills (AutoCAD & Inventor preferable)
•Strong mechanical drafting and GD&T proficiency
•Strong mechanical acumen, able to rapidly assess mechanical designs and problem solve
•Knowledge of weldment/sheet metal/machined component design principles
•Lean manufacturing/lean design experience, with exposure to roll forming equipment or processes is highly regarded
•Strong project management skills with proven ability to manage timelines and budgets, mitigate risks, and work effectively with vendors and external suppliers.
•Ability to travel interstate as required
