Austek Roads is seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Fitter to join our team at our asphalt production facility in Tomago, NSW. This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient asphalt production.

Working closely with operations and personnel, you will play a key role in minimising downtime, supporting production targets, and maintaining high safety standards across the site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on asphalt plant equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, screens, dryers, burners, and associated plant machinery.
  • Perform shutdown and breakdown maintenance activities.
  • Conduct routine inspections and condition monitoring of plant equipment.
  • Complete welding, fabrication, and fitting tasks as required.
  • Assist with plant upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety procedures and company standards.
  • Support production teams to maximise plant availability and performance.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Mechanical Fitter trade qualification (Certificate III Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent).
  • Experience working in industrial processing, manufacturing, quarrying, asphalt, concrete, mining, or similar heavy industry environments.
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
  • Experience with asphalt plants, crushing and screening equipment, or bulk material handling systems.
  • Confined Space and Working at Heights certifications.
  • Forklift, EWP, or dogging tickets.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance systems and CMMS software.
