This is a hands-on design and construct position with an established mechanical contractor recognised as a specialist in a niche area of commercial HVAC. Think innovative industrial environments, temperature-critical facilities and high-spec manufacturing plants, alongside more traditional commercial settings, where off-the-shelf solutions don’t always apply.
You’ll be involved early, have real ownership of your work and won’t be stuck endlessly value-engineering someone else’s impractical concept.
What’s in it for you
You’ll own HVAC designs from concept through to construction, working on technically interesting projects that offer variety and scale.
Designs are developed in-house to Australian standards, with a strong focus on buildability and cost awareness rather than theoretical perfection. You’ll report to an Engineering Manager who understands how sites actually work, within a friendly team of engineers where your technical judgement carries weight.
The work
One of the first projects you’ll be involved in is a large automated industrial facility in NSW, operating at scale and requiring coordinated HVAC design across multiple systems and stakeholders.
Beyond that, projects span industrial facilities, warehouses, process and temperature-controlled environments, labs and manufacturing plants.
The role
You’ll be responsible for:
– Producing HVAC design documentation using industry-standard tools (Camel, Bluebeam)
– Reviewing and coordinating drawings from external drafting partners
– Preparing technical submissions and engineering calculations
– Attending design meetings with clients, builders and architects (in person or via Teams)
– Carrying design responsibility through construction and delivery
– Interstate travel for client meetings and site visits as required (primarily NSW and Victoria)
This is not a drafting-only role or a red-pen checking exercise. You’ll be expected to think, decide and own outcomes.
About you
You’ll likely have:
Candidates from a pure consulting background will only be considered if they have strong exposure to D&C delivery and understand the commercial realities of contracting.
