What you will be doing:

As a Mechanical Fitter in a food manufacturing facility, you will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing mechanical equipment to ensure smooth and efficient production. Your day-to-day duties will include:

• Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on production machinery and plant utilities
• Responding to breakdowns with a sense of urgency to minimise downtime
• Diagnosing mechanical faults and implementing effective repair solutions
• Working closely with the production team to support equipment reliability and performance
• Ensuring all work is carried out in line with food safety, hygiene, and WHS standards
• Completing maintenance records and updating the CMMS with accurate information
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and supporting capital projects as needed
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment at all times

What you will bring:

• A trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or Fitter & Turner (Certificate III or equivalent)
• Proven experience in a maintenance or fitting role, ideally within food manufacturing or milling environments
• Experience working in a mill or similar continuous processing plant
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills across systems such as conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, and packaging machinery
• Welding experience and/or certification in TIG, Stick, and MIG
• A valid Forklift ticket
• A Restricted Electrical Licence (REL)
• Solid understanding of preventative maintenance practices and safe work procedures
• Ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced, hygiene-sensitive environment
• A strong commitment to safety, food quality, and compliance with WHS and food safety standards (e.g. HACCP, GMP)
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail when following work instructions and completing maintenance records
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and attend call-outs as required
• Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) (preferred but not essential)
