Xzibit is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Shopfitter to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to learn and develop essential skills, working on unique and high-quality projects where you will assist experienced tradespeople across temporary and permanent exhibitions. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, possess a strong work ethic, and have a genuine interest in hands-on craftsmanship.

Responsibilities:

  • Fabrication and Preparation:
    • Assist in the preparation of materials, including cutting, shaping, and assembling components.
    • Learn to use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Site Preparation and Cleanup:
    • Assist in the preparation of work sites, including protecting surfaces and ensuring a safe working environment.
    • Maintain a clean and organised work area throughout the project.
    • Assist in the cleanup and removal of debris upon project completion.
  • Material Handling and Storage:
    • Assist in the loading, unloading, and transportation of materials.
    • Ensure proper storage and handling of materials to prevent damage.
    • Assist in the fabrication of custom elements, as required.
  • Assist with Installation:
    • Assist in the installation of shopfitting components, including cabinetry, partitions, ceilings, flooring, and fixtures, according to plans and specifications.
    • Learn to interpret and follow technical drawings and plans.
    • Assist in the accurate measurement and marking of materials.
  • Safety Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
    • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
    • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Learning and Development:
    • Actively participate in on-the-job training and formal apprenticeship program.
    • Seek opportunities to learn new skills and techniques.
    • Maintain a logbook of training and work experience.
    • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Essential:
    • Genuine interest in shopfitting, carpentry & joinery trades.
    • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
    • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
    • Basic understanding of hand and power tools (or willingness to learn).
    • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying heavy objects.
    • Certificate 1 in Construction (White Card)
    • Valid drivers license, or reliable transportation.
