Summary:

The Welder is responsible for operating welding equipment to fuse metal parts together according to precise specifications. They work in the Construction industry, constructing and installing metal frameworks for buildings, bridges, or other structures.

Responsibilities:


  • Read and interpret project blueprints, drawings, and other technical documents

  • Measure and mark materials to be welded using measuring tools and hand tools

  • Set up welding equipment including machines, gas torches, and power tools

  • Cut and prepare metal surfaces by grinding or other methods as required

  • Assemble frames or structures according to project specifications

  • Weld metal parts together using the appropriate welding techniques and methods

  • Ensure that all welds meet quality standards and inspect finished products for defects

  • Monitor and maintain welding equipment, tools, and accessories

  • Collaborate with other team members including construction supervisors, engineers, and architects

  • Work in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and standards

Qualifications:


  • Certificate or diploma in welding, or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Welding in a Construction industry setting

  • Proficient in reading blueprints, drawings, and technical documents

  • Skilled in the use and maintenance of welding equipment and tools

  • Knowledge of welding techniques, methods, and materials

  • Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and safety standards

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

  • Physically fit, able to lift heavy materials and work in outdoor settings as required.
