Your future role: 
Could you be our next Trade Assistant?  These roles will assist trade employees with various duties on the work stations, with the aim of supporting the production adding to the efficiently of the operations in a safe approach, and abiding by relevant industry standards. No formal qualifications are required to apply, however some experience or exposure to this work will be required. 

Alstom has been awarded the PTA Australia’s $1.6 billion Railcar Program.  As part of the project we will design, manufacture and maintain 246 new railcars needed for Metronet projects and the replacement of the A-series trains. We will also deliver 6 DMU (diesel multiple unit)  railcars to replace the five diesel railcars that operate the twice daily Australind service between Perth and Bunbury. 
 

A bit about your new role:

  • Cut, roll, shape, bend, heat or hammer metal products to fabricate parts or sub-assemblies
  • Use hand tools, power tools and other machines to mark out, cut, shape and join a variety of sheet metal materials
  • Operate brake presses, folding, bending and rolling machines
  • Work as part of the team to assemble sub-assemblies
  • Operate hand and machine tools, welding equipment or computer controlled machines 
  • Assemble parts and structures by lining up and joining them by bolting, adhesives or riveting
  • Finish products by cleaning, polishing, filing or bathing them in acid solutions or by applying protective coatings EHS knowledge and exposure
