APA is looking for someone to join their Katherine Maintenance team on a full-time permanent basis. APA owns and operates the Natural Gas pipeline that has delivered reliable supply of energy to the NT Communities since the 1980’s and we are looking for a mechanically minded individual to join them team in Katherine. 

Our Mechanical Technicians are responsible for compound and easement maintenance, overseeing pipeline excavations and repairs, gas pipeline equipment overhauls and operations of high-pressure natural gas pipelines.

All our NT Team are residential employees, drive company issued vehicles and have a great work life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain pipeline and associated facilities (including equipment, stations, bases, grounds, vehicles & workshop) to reliably deliver energy for our customers.
  • Knowledge of Right of Way Maintenance for pipeline structures.
  • Third Party Awareness and Landowner Relations – assist and communicate as required.
  • Contribute to the safe culture of the APA Group, looking out for your colleagues, our community, environment and yourself in accordance with APA’s HSE procedures.
  • Utilise the Computerised Maintenance Management System to plan and record all the maintenance activities.

Your background

  • Mechanical trade or equivalent work experience in a relevant industry.
  • Experience in operation and maintenance within heavy industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of pressures, flows and distribution cause and effect and basic instrumentation an advantage.
  • Current manual driver’s licence.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HSE principles and commitment to safety.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – able to work in a team.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities to maintain operations.
  • Able to work autonomously and in remote locations.
  • Able to work on call and attend to overtime as required.
