About the role
You’ll join our specialised substation delivery crew, led and staffed by electricians and commissioning experts. You’ll actively install, wire, test and energise projects across Australia. You are hands-on interface between design and energisation. on any given week, your tasks will include:
• Secondary Control & Protection Wiring: relay panels, SCADA, E/CT, RTUs—complete with tagging and customer verification.
• HV/LV Heat Shrink Terminations & Testing: transformer, feeder, busbar, isolator & CT/VT cabling up to 300 kV (and interfacing with 500 kV systems).
• Commissioning Support: primary & secondary injection testing, Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), IR/megger, power gradings, factory-to-site checklists.
• Drawings & Reports: daily use of GA drawings, schematics & wiring schedules; issue punch lists; log engineering queries; submit labour/daily progress via toolbox handover systems (ISO 45001).
• Network Energisation Interface: assist DNSPs during switch in, HV isolation, and final turnover, ensuring safe and compliant system handover.
Skills & Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
• A-Grade Electrical License (SA, VIC, NSW or nationally recognised equivalent).
• 5+ years’ experience building transmission substations.
• Proven skills with priority cable terminations, HV layout installations and switchyard earthing.
• experience wiring panels for relays/SCADA, carrying out SAT/FAT procedures and punch list testing.
• Competent in reading AS 2067 switchyard drawings and maintaining compliance across access zones and fire separation requirements.
• Hold (or be eligible for) White Card, HV Switching (QMAP), Confined Space, and EWP tickets.
• Project-ready and mobile: regional/outback FIFO/DIDO availability (common rosters: 11/3 or 21/7).
