Remuneration: Annual salary commencing at $70,883, plus allowances & plus up to 13% superannuation

Role Overview

The Specialist Plumber/Drainer (Facilities) will plan and lead the delivery of plumbing services, projects and associated works. The position will devise and implement operational, maintenance and resource plans to manage risk, achieve sustainable service levels and ensure maintenance programs are completed within budget.

Essential Knowledge & Skills: 

  • Demonstrated experience of greater than 4 years in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking plumbing and draining related tasks in accordance with industry relevant codes.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and organising plumbing related work under remote supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake a broad range of tasks including operation of small plant, vehicles, equipment and tools in a competent, proficient and safe manner.
  • Demonstrated team leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated physical agility and dexterity to carry out regular laboring duties.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain harmony within a team and foster good working relationships with all council employees and members of the public.
  • Proficiency in the use of digital technology (smart phones, tablets etc.) for the purposes of workflow management and reporting.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skill.
  • Current Plumber/ License.
  • Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s license or above that is current and maintained.
  • Construction Industry White/Blue card.

Essential Requirements: 

  • Working in a safe manner in accordance with Council’s overarching Safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform the tasks of a responsible licensed tradesperson including the lodging of all relevant forms for Notifiable Work.
  • Perform laboring tasks and operation of light plant in a safe, competent, efficient and timely manner to deliver works programs of the Branch.
  • Conduct regular assessments, including site inspections and audits to determine maintenance needs and ensure that works are compliant with agreed standards and instructions.
  • Provide specialist trade-related advice to the department on Regulations and Act compliance to ensure the organisation adheres to legislation and other standards.
  • Identify new ways to improve work practices in accordance with Council’s continuous improvement commitment.
  • Communicate respectfully and effectively with members of the public, management and other team members.
  • Any other duties within the level of responsibility.
