We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Technician – Mechanical to join our Operations and Maintenance team in WA on a permanent full time basis FIFO out of Perth, on a 15on/13off roster.

Reporting to the Team Leader you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, reliability and improvement of plant and transmission pipelines to meet customer requirements. You will be predominantly based out of Geraldton, but also be required to travel through remote areas of WA as you move between facilities which include self-contained accommodation. Daily tasks will be a mixture of work that requires you to be able to execute your assigned tasks which may be by yourself or in a small team with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance activities alone or as part of a team in accordance with the established processes.
  • Install, commission, test, calibrate, monitor, fault find and diagnose, repair, maintain, overhaul and service simple to complex Mechanical type plant and systems to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
  • Assist in preparation and review of work processes and procedures to continually improve safety, efficiency and effectiveness of plant operation and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure adequate site housekeeping to satisfy OHS&E requirements and recommendations from safety audits.
  • Maintain adequate work and operation records and documentation to satisfy the Safety Case, regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Supervise and coordinate contractors to ensure work is performed with adequate safety control measures; implemented to minimise interruption to the plant operation and availability.
  • Assist with a range of non-trade specific tasks related to the operation and maintenance of gas turbine compressor stations and pipeline facilities.

Your background

  • Trade certification in the Mechanical field.
  • Current driver’s license.
  • A strong background / understanding of Gas Turbine Operations and maintenance activities.
  • A history in the maintenance of Mechanical equipment / systems i.e., valving, pressure regulators, etc.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate at all levels of the organisation, as well as sound computer literacy.

About the Team

The APA operations and maintenance team for the Western Region operates and maintains transmission assets between Pinjarra, Geraldton and out to Mt Magnet. This role is primarily accountable for the operation and maintenance of Northern Goldfields Interconnect Pipeline, Ambania Compressor Station, and other northern assets in the western region. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of Australia’s Energy transition and play a key role in supporting WA’s critical energy infrastructure.
