We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Technical Officer - Mechanical to join us in our Operations & Maintenance team in Warnambool, VIC on a full time permanent basis.

Reporting to the Team Leader Asset Operations SEAGas VIC, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, reliability and continuous improvement of the high-pressure Gas pipeline assets, in order to meet customer requirements across SEAGas assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine mechanical maintenance and support plant upgrades, including equipment inspections, reliability checks, installation and commissioning of new or modified equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Prepare, co-ordinate, and implement plans for the installation or modification of equipment to enhance operational effectiveness and meet customer requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with standards, including liaising with engineers and other relevant personnel, reviewing plans/designs, and making recommendations on equipment modifications, designs, and specifications.
  • Monitor equipment performance, analyse and interpret operational data to maintain asset integrity, optimise system efficiency, and promptly diagnose and rectify faults to ensure reliable operation.
  • Perform site overhauls on meter and compressor station equipment, identifying abnormal conditions and resolving complex mechanical faults.
  • Ensure reliable mechanical operations across multiple sites in South West Victoria, with a valid driver’s licence and participation in a 1-in-4 on-call roster.

Your background

  • Extensive experience in mechanical maintenance, overhauls, and fault finding on rotating and static plant equipment, with a Mechanical Engineering Certificate III or equivalent.
  • Strong technical knowledge of compressors, pumps, valves, regulators, actuators, gearboxes, and associated mechanical systems.
  • Proven ability to analyse historical and operational data to diagnose faults, perform complex diagnostics, precision alignment, vibration analysis, and condition-based maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and manufacturer specifications to support equipment reliability and performance improvements.
  • Experience supervising maintenance tasks, coordinating contractors, and contributing to plant upgrades while maintaining a strong safety and compliance focus.
  • Previous experience in gas pipeline infrastructure (MPR and compressor stations) is desirable but not essential, depending on overall mechanical maintenance experience.
