Our Victorian Plant and Process group has an opportunity for a talented and client-focussed Senior Mechanical Engineer to join them following several significant project wins. In this role you will work as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team across a variety of heavy industrial project types, delivering concept and detailed design services for mechanical elements, such as hydraulics (fuels and chemicals), fuel storage and handling, fire protection services (hydrant and hose reel systems, sprinklers, foam systems, deluge systems, gas suppression, fire detection, and on-site water treatment

This opportunity primarily focuses on winning and delivering high-impact fuels storage handling and Australian Defence projects across Australia and the Pacific Region, with the opportunity to step into a team leadership role as part of your career progression.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Leading and collaborating on integrated multi-disciplinary projects through all phases, from tender preparation and design delivery through to construction support.
  • Mentoring and growth of team capability around technical delivery, project and client outcomes, and delivering high quality projects for our clients.
  • Leading the development and submission of proposals, contributing to resource allocation and acting as project manager or discipline lead for medium-sized projects.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, industry networks and internal stakeholders to grow revenue and deliver value to our clients.
  • Promoting an inclusive, supportive and collaborative working environment within the team.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer with 7+ years’ relevant experience in mechanical engineering including storage and handling of fuels and dangerous goods and process & industrial plant. Ideally, but not essential, your experience will also include future energy generation (alternative fuels, hydrogen, biomass).
  • Demonstrated consulting mindset, including proactive stakeholder engagement, strategic problem-solving, project management skills and the ability to deliver tailored solutions for our clients.
  • Previous experience and a strong appetite to mentor junior team members 
  • Practical knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and codes of practice including Industrial Fire Protection systems compliance, design and dangerous goods.
  • Ideally have Professional Engineering Registration in Victoria.
  • For the right candidate, we will consider a part-time appointment (minimum of 0.8 FTE).
