Wood is currently seeking expressions of interest for a highly ambitious Senior Mechanical Engineer who will design, analyze and oversee projects with a focus on technical leadership for a major capital works program in Laverton, Victoria.

The Role
The ideal candidate would be part of a project delivery team supporting the Principal Mechanical Engineer, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meeting quality and safety standards.

ResponsibilitiesThe key objectives for this role are:
- Design, develops and tests mechanical systems, components, and products
- Provided technical guidance, leads design reviews, and ensures technical quality and compliance with standards. Fosters a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Is a problem-solver - Analyzes existing systems, identifies problems and develops solutions
- Ensure designs meet specifications, are cost-effective, reliable, and have a low environmental impact
- Collaborates with other engineering disciplines, such as process and E&I to ensure integrated project delivery
- Contributes to design review workshops and quality checks
- Foster a culture of safe delivery, continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration

- Minimum 7 years direct experience managing projects on major hazards facilities (MHF)
- Demonstrable experience of embedding safety considerations into all aspects of mechanical engineering and design
- Proven experience of being directly involved on projects in the chemicals / agricultural sectors
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, both written and oral
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or related field)
- Must be available to work onsite in Laverton, Victoria
