Senior Engineer Mechanical - RTS ENG CAP

Downer Rail and Transit Systems Business Unit has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. We pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative and dynamic work environment that encourages professional growth.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in delivering Rail projects. In this role, you will be responsible for approving engineering specifications, reports, mechanical calculations, design layouts, production drawings, and cost estimates. Your expertise will contribute to the development of reference designs for new mechanical systems, ensuring they are safe, compliant, reliable, and cost-effective.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete and review engineering specifications and reports.


• Conduct mechanical calculations and create design layouts.


• Generate detailed cost estimates.


• Define requirements and develop reference designs for new mechanical train systems.


• Collaborate with procurement, planning, production, testing, commissioning, and maintenance teams.


• Develop integration plans for rolling stock and assure new systems and operating methodologies.


• Ensure all designs meet safety and regulatory compliance standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus. 


• 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering.


• Project Management experience, degree qualification is a plus.


• Proficiency in CAD software and engineering analysis tools.


• Strong understanding of mechanical system design and integration.


• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.


• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
