Your role at St John of God Murdoch Hospital
You will monitor, operate and maintain refrigeration and air conditioning services in a safe and efficient manner and attend to emergency breakdowns when required.
The Position
Responsible for cleaning, repair and maintenance to the refrigeration and air conditioning systems including cool rooms, freezer rooms, fridge cabinets, ice machines, fan coil units, evaporative air conditioning systems and electronic controls, fans, filters and chilled/heating water pipe work and valves.
Responsible for overseeing temperature control and chemical treatments of refrigeration and air conditioning systems, cooling towers, and closed water systems.
Update repair and maintenance documentation for computer-based maintenance management systems.
Prepared to be on call on a rotating basis.
When on call, investigate all reported faults received by the Duty Hospital Coordinator or their representative.
Identify and provide options to resolve refrigeration and air conditioning issues needing decisions outside the scope of the position responsibilities.
Identify and escalate identified hazards and risks during the course of performing refrigeration and air conditioning and services.
Ensuring that interactions with other caregivers are conductive to harmonious working relationships.
Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean and secure environment by using safe working practices and by identifying and assisting to remove any hazards.
Carry a pocket pager and or mobile phone be prepared to respond to calls when required.
When on call, attend site as soon as possible and make safe or rectify all faults on any service including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, mechanical and building services or equipment. Faults that cannot be repaired or safely isolated without disruption to the Hospital's operation must be escalated to the appropriate trade caregiver or contractor.
When on call, on weekends and public holidays, attend to any urgent jobs for a minimum of three hours and carry out safety checks on the steam boilers as per check sheet.
You will have experienced in commercial building air conditioning services including central chilled and heating water plants. With experience in commercial refrigeration systems including ice machines, you will be able to carry out re-commissioning and testing of air conditioning and ventilating system for air balancing and a working knowledge of electronic air conditioning controls.
Ability to assist in lifting mechanical equipment, walk long distances, climb ladders and stairs will be a requirement for the role. You will have an understanding of and ability to apply occupational health and safety principles to ensure own safety and that of others in the workplace.
To succeed you will hold a Trade Certificate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning with 5+ years of technical and trade experience, R.A.C.I.R.B Certificates and “C” class driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle. Availability to be on call on a rotating basis is essential to the role.

Salary: $72,075 to $88,368, plus 11% superannuation
A Full-Time position, working 38 hours per week
