We’re proud to be delivering the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP), and we’re looking for the best people to help make it happen. 

QTMP involves the design, manufacture and maintenance of 65 new six-car passenger trains to support Cross River Rail and the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games. These trains will be built at a new, purpose-built facility in Torbanlea on the Fraser Coast.

The role at a glance

This role plays a key part in the mechanical assembly of QTMP railcars and may also contribute to the maintenance and reliability of specialised production equipment and facility mechanical systems.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical assembly tasks including but limited to torquing, bolting, piping, component and equipment installation, panel fitting, and door assembly in accordance with detailed work instructions.
  • Operate materials handling equipment safely and efficiently to support assembly processes.
  • Conduct mechanical testing and fault finding

 

About you

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or Equivalent
  • Knowledge of mechanical rollingstock systems, manufacturing processes, and specialised equipment from production through to mechanical testing and commissioning is advantageous
  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing best practices
  • Ability to dismantle, replace, assemble, and fit mechanical and engineering components
  • Experience in hydraulic systems is advantageous
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail. 
  • Excellent time management and forward-thinking
  • Ability to influence, motivate and contribute to continuous improvement.
