We have a rare opportunity for an experienced Poly Welder to join our Toowoomba team. In this role you will be part of a small fabrication team where you will poly weld customised polyethylene pipes as per customer requests. Your technical experience to read drawings, work with plastic piping and pride in your craft to deliver a high-quality finish, will see you shine in this important role.

What will you do?

  • Understand and interpret technical drawings and material.

  • Welding of polyethylene products is performed to a quality standard as per industry guidelines, and/or in-house procedures.

  • Record all welding information and parameters (legible written form).

  • Ensure appropriate care when handling equipment (including measuring equipment), and that the equipment is appropriately maintained.

  • Ensure that all work carried out is in accordance with the Vinidex standards and only conforming products are released for sale or stock.

  • Any non-conforming components are communicated to the Fabrication Supervisor in a timely manner.

  • Support and participate in preventative maintenance initiatives.

  • Continuously strive to achieve targets related to the production of pipe to meet business needs in a safe and efficient manner

  • Work as part of a team to create a culture of collaboration and embed recognised best practice and continuous improvement from across the manufacturing industry

  • Work positively and proactively with other functions across the site, supporting an integrated and engaged operational workplace.
     

About you

  • Must have current Forklift, Dogging-DG, Bridge and Gantry Crane -CB Licence, own transport and driver’s licence.

  • Be an experienced poly welder and ticketed for polyethylene Butt Welding (50mm -1200mm diameter).

  • Qualified and ticketed polyethylene Electrofusion Welding (preferred).

  • Experienced using a variety of different hand and power tools.

  • Excellent spatial awareness, mechanical aptitude, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Solid literacy and numeracy skills and experienced working off plans/drawings and able to demonstrate best practice application.

  • Strong commitment to following work site procedures, understanding of safety work practices, and demonstrated risk awareness.

  • Excellent decision making, highly organised and able to manage your time effectively to get the job done accurately and efficiently.

  • Have a can-do attitude, are flexible, adaptable, able to work independently or in a team where you enjoy collaborating, and available to work overtime or do other duties as required.

  • Australian Resident or Permanent resident with full working rights.
