We’re looking for an experienced Plumber who is ready to take the next step in their career. If you’re keen to apply your hands-on trade expertise while moving into a role that combines technical work with contractor coordination and client engagement, this opportunity is for you.
In this role, you’ll continue to be involved in plumbing maintenance and minor works, but you’ll also be the primary point of contact on-site – managing contractors, coordinating jobs, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring facilities are operating efficiently. If you’ve been considering a transition into a broader facilities role while still staying connected to the tools, this position offers the best of both worlds.
Your plumbing trade qualification is the essential foundation. Experience in other non-licensed areas or small project coordination will be highly regarded – and UQ will provide training and support to help you broaden your skills and succeed in the role.
Key responsibilities will include:
Deliver and coordinate plumbing maintenance, repairs, and minor works across the precinct.
Act as the main client contact, managing requests and ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Supervise contractors, source quotes, and oversee works to meet safety, quality, budget and timeframes.
Inspect and monitor building assets and systems, log jobs, and maintain accurate records.
Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and UQ safety requirements.
Support continuous improvement and contribute to a safe, efficient facilities environment.
As part of the UQ community, you will have the opportunity to work alongside the brightest minds, who have joined us from all over the world.
Everyone here has a role to play. As a member of our professional staff cohort, you will be actively involved in working towards our vision of a better world. By supporting the academic endeavour across teaching, research, and the student life, you will have the opportunity to contribute to activities that have a lasting impact on our community.
Join a community where excellence is at the core of our culture, contributions are valued and a range of benefits and rewards are available, such as:
Up to 26 weeks paid parental leave or 14 weeks paid primary caregiver leave
17% superannuation contributions
Electric Buggy provided to travel around campus
17.5% annual leave loading
Access to flexible working arrangements including flexible start/finish times, purchased leave, and a condensed fortnight
Health and wellness discounts – fitness passport access, free yearly flu vaccinations, discounted health insurance, and access to our Employee Assistance Program for staff and their immediate family
UQ Study for Staff
On campus childcare options
Affordable parking (from just $6.15 a day)
Salary packaging options
