Your role at St John of God Mount Lawley Hospital

Are you a skilled plumber with a passion for precision and reliability? Join our dedicated Engineering & Maintenance team at SJG Mount Lawley Hospital where your work directly supports critical healthcare operations and patient safety. As Plumber you will be responsible for monitoring, operating, maintaining and repairing hydraulic services and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

The role is offered on a permanent full-time basis.

The Position

  • Participate in the supportive role of the Engineering & Maintenance Department as an integral part of the caring and healing mission of the hospital.

  • Ensuring that interactions with other staff are conducive to harmonious working relationships and being aware of safety and emergency procedures within the Hospital.

  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean and secure environment by using safe working practices and by identifying and assisting to remove any hazards.

  • Responsible for the repair and maintenance of hydraulic services, equipment, water supply and sanitary items.

  • Update repair and maintenance documentation for computer-based maintenance management systems.

  • Maintain adequate stock levels for the efficient operation of plumbing and hydraulic services.

  • Assist as required with general maintenance in the Hospital.

  • Certify plumbing works as required including back flow prevention and gas installations to Level II.

The position will require you to carry a pocket pager and be prepared to respond to calls when required. You will be required to be ‘on call’ for the role.

To succeed you will have a Trade Certificate in Plumbing and a current ‘A’ Class Plumbing License with 5+ years of technical and trade experience and endorsements in back flow prevention and gas installations. You will also be able to identify faults in the types of plumbing and hydraulic systems installed in a hospital environment and have the ability to work in such diverse areas such as patients' rooms, Operating Suites, plant rooms, kitchen, swimming pools, convent quarters and doctors' rooms.

A sound knowledge of building trades, maintenance and repairs, a current ‘C’ class Driver’s License and excellent physical health and mobility is essential in this role.
