Summary:
The Plumber is responsible for installing and maintaining plumbing systems in new construction sites or renovation projects. They should have a strong knowledge of plumbing codes and regulations, and work collaboratively with other contractors and team members to ensure that all plumbing installations meet the projectβs specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout and design of plumbing systems.
- Install and repair plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, venting, and fixtures.
- Install underground pipes, dugout and backfilled trenches for plumbing systems.
- Install, repair and maintain boilers, water heaters, and other heating systems.
- Test plumbing systems for leaks using air pressure, water pressure, or other testing devices.
- Document all work performed and provide updates to the project manager.
- Work collaboratively with other contractors and team members to ensure plumbing systems are installed according to project specifications.
- Advise on best practices for plumbing installations and recommend changes as needed.
- Resolve issues and troubleshoot problems that arise during installation.
- Maintain plumbing tools, equipment and supplies.
- Ensure all work is done according to safety standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a plumbing apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
- Valid plumbing license.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in plumbing installations.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot problems.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials.
- Knowledge of pipefitting, welding, and soldering techniques.
- Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and supplies used in plumbing installations.
- Ability to maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and weekends, when needed.
