We're recruiting Pipe Fitters for a 7-week shutdown project at a major oil and gas refinery in Brisbane. This is a large scope of work with a well-established industrial services contractor, offering strong rates and accommodation support for candidates travelling from interstate.
Rates:
- $62.25/hr (day shift)
- $74.40/hr (night shift)
Key Duties: - Fabricate, install, and remove process piping systems across the refinery shutdown scope
- Carry out flange management — breaking, inspecting, and reinstating flanged joints to spec, including bolt torque/tensioning
- Isolate, drain, and prepare pipework and vessels for maintenance, including oil tanks and associated piping
- Read and work from P&IDs, isometric drawings, and engineering specifications
- Cut, thread, and fit pipe spools to tight tolerances in line with drawings
- Carry out pressure testing and leak testing following pipework reinstatement
- Complete permits, isolations, and job safety documentation prior to and during works
- Liaise with supervisors, planners, and other trades to keep the shutdown schedule on track
Requirements: - Trade qualification as a Pipe Fitter or Fitter/Turner with pipefitting experience
- Proven industrial shutdown experience — pipework, oil tanks, flange management essential
- Experience working in refinery, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments highly regarded
- Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights tickets (or willingness to obtain)
- Sound understanding of isolation procedures and permit-to-work systems
- Pre-employment medical and criminal background check required
- Own transport/willingness to travel to Brisbane for the duration of the project
Project Details: - 7-week shutdown project, 8-hour shifts
- Accommodation/LAHA ($65/day) and meal allowance provided once on site
- Candidates responsible for their own travel to Brisbane
