We are currently seeking expressions of interests from Naval Architects and Mechanical Engineers to work across several work packages in our MSP. These work packages across multiple CASG domains in LAND, SPACE, JOINT and MARITIME. 


Seeking candidates based in the following locations, Cairns, Canberra, Sydney, and Adeliade.  These roles are fulltime and people seeking both permanent and contract work are encouraged to apply.

Our work is highly complex and confidential, so there are some things you must have to fulfil this role:



  • An active or reactivatable Australian Government Security Clearance 

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Naval Architecture or Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with Design Acceptance qualifications. 

  • Must meet requirements of Chartered Professional Engineer (Engineers Australia), Registered Professional Engineer (Professionals Australia) or Fellow/Member of Royal Institution of Naval Architects.

  • Demonstrated experience in Technical Regulatory Management system (TRMS).

  • Act effectively as an Engineering Authority level 3 in TRMS

  • Have a good understanding engineering aspects related to the Defence materiel capability life cycle.

  • Proven experience in similar engineering roles within CASG is essential.

  • Above all, we’re looking for someone with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the determination to lead critical projects and programs that enhance sovereign capability and deliver complex outcomes that matter.

Our work spans Downer Professional Services and our role as the Prime for the Team Downer MSP. This includes managing Integrated Work Packages such as MIWS, LC4S, JC4S, MPB, SSB (SPACE), SSB (Ships), MLF, and MSD.

Our work is highly complex and confidential, so there are some key requirements you must meet to fulfill this role:



  • Security Clearance: You must have and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance as required by the Commonwealth.

  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications and professional development related to your capability.

  • Experience: Previous experience in a consulting or above-the-line role, ideally within the defence or professional services industries.

  • Relationship Building: A natural ability to build trusted relationships with team members, customers, and partners.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong communication skills and an analytical mindset to tackle complex problems.
