About the role

This unique opportunity offers hands-on ministry experience in an integrated setting, working closely with our Corps leadership and Canberra Recovery Services to support spiritual, emotional, and social transformation in our community.

You will be an active member of the Corps Leadership Team, championing the intersection of church and social mission while apprenticing in recovery ministry. The role includes regular involvement in Sunday worship at Canberra City Salvos, where you will assist in leading and facilitating various aspects of church life and community outreach.

How you will make an impact

  • Lead and facilitate community and ministry programs that align with Corps goals and mission intentions
  • Provide pastoral care and discipleship, as agreed with the Corps Officer
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure programs comply with TSA policies and procedures
  • Assist with setup and cleaning of activity spaces to ensure safety and engagement
  • Build strong relationships with community groups and TSA services onsite
  • Support and participate in funding and budget compliance activities
  • Help lead meetings and manage operational hazards as required

What you will bring

  • A commitment to the Christian faith and the mission of The Salvation Army
  • The ability to confidently offer pastoral assistance, prayer, and explain the Gospel
  • Experience in AOD or community services (preferred)
  • Capacity to facilitate both group programs and one-on-one support, with a focus on faith-based activities
  • A sound understanding of TSA doctrines and principles (desirable)
  • Be a Soldier or member of a local Salvation Army Corps
