Mechanical Tradesperson

Hakka Foods, a market-leading brand in the FMCG food industry, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Tradesperson to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing mechanical systems and equipment across all operational departments, and ensuring HACCP and WH&S obligations are continuously met. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

• Assemble, install, test and maintain equipment, appliances and fixtures using hand and power tools
• Perform modification on machine parts as instructed
• Inspect mechanical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, and the need for adjustment or repair
• Test and troubleshoot mechanical equipment and fixtures
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components, to breakdown and correct the problem
• Ensure WH&S systems and procedures are in place, compliant, operating effectively and efficiently, and continuously reviewed and improved
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Ensure Maintenance systems and procedures relating to routine preventative maintenance and breakdown responses are captured promptly and accurately
• Ensure preventative maintenance and breakdown responses are assigned and actioned within acceptable timeframes
• Keep accurate records of work performed

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years experience as a Maintenance Fitter or Mechanical Fitter with proven history in mechanical maintenance & repairs
• Experience in FMCG Food industry highly regarded
• General machining including use of lathes and milling machines.
• General fitting including fitment and alignment of mechanical equipment (gearboxes, motors, pumps)
• Locally-certified Fitter and Turner highly desirable
• Overseas-certified Fitter and Turner also welcome
• Basic welding (TIG and MIG)
• Pneumatic & hydraulic experience
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Physical fitness level to be able to lift, handle and undertake general labouring and manual handling activities
• High level of hand-eye coordination skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
