Are you someone who enjoys sharing your knowledge and helping others succeed?

As a Technical Advisor - Mechanical, you’ll be the subject matter expert for our maintenance team, offering practical guidance, mentoring, and technical advice to keep our metropolitan water and wastewater systems operating safely and efficiently.

You will also play a key part in the daily supervision of maintenance activities, making sure everything runs to plan, on time, and within budget.

Working closely with the Manager and Team Leader, you will help deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective solutions that make a real difference to the community.

This is a great opportunity to step into a technical role, support the team’s development, and build your skills in operations and maintenance, all while contributing to essential infrastructure that supports millions of people!

This position is located at our Kwinana Water Recycling Plant with a proposed start date 3rd November 2025.

 Safety, Health, and Environment

The role is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment in line with OSH legislation, overseeing contractor and visitor safety, managing hazardous activities, responding to onsite incidents per corporate policies, promoting a strong safety culture, and providing technical expertise to investigate and resolve safety-related operational issues.

 

Technical Support & Development

The role provides technical leadership and support across fault finding, shutdown coordination, compliance, and training, while contributing to asset management, work planning, and continuous improvement. It involves mentoring teams, resolving complex technical issues, ensuring procedural compliance, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver efficient, high-quality maintenance and operational outcomes.

 

Plant Management & Delivery

The role oversees daily maintenance activities to maximise asset performance and safety, manages contractors and work schedules, and ensures compliance with regulatory and corporate standards. It provides technical input into capital works, continuous improvement initiatives, and operational planning, while liaising with stakeholders and leading risk assessments, audits, and emergency simulations to support effective site operations and service delivery.

 

Business Performance

The role supports operational integration and change management, maintains accurate records and documentation, contributes to asset maintenance planning, and fosters strong communication across teams and stakeholders. It also assists in monitoring asset performance and provides technical reporting to support continuous improvement and informed decision-making.

 

To be considered, you will require these qualifications and experience:

  • Trade qualification in mechanical discipline relevant to water industry operations.
  • Substantial experience in instrument, electrical or mechanical trades and relevant supervisory experience.
  • Considerable experience in a complex process industry and operations and maintenance environment.
  • Considerable experience in continuous improvement of processes and identify/diagnose of faults in a process focussed industry
  • Current ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence
