Location: Geraldton Port
Roster: 5:2 - Monday to Friday
Shift Length: 11 Hours
Type: Full-time Permanent role

As Mechanical Supervisor at Newhaul Port Logistics in Geraldton, you’ll take the lead in coordinating mechanical maintenance across both fixed and mobile plant within our port logistics operation. Your focus will be on driving safe, efficient, and timely maintenance, both planned and reactive to ensure high equipment reliability and performance.

You’ll lead a team of skilled tradespeople, maintenance crew, and contractors, working closely with the Maintenance Manager and operations team to deliver on key targets. This is a hands-on leadership role where your ability to coordinate people and resources, uphold safety and quality standards, and keep things moving will make a real impact.

Key Responsibilities 

As Mechanical Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading and coordinating maintenance activities across fixed plant assets, ensuring safety and operational standards are met.
  • Developing and executing maintenance schedules, prioritising tasks based on equipment criticality.
  • Planning and overseeing shutdowns to ensure they're delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Interpreting condition monitoring data to improve reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Maintaining accurate records, work orders, and maintenance logs to support compliance and decision-making.
  • Managing spare parts, wear materials, and consumables to minimise delays and maintain readiness.
  • Liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders to secure timely delivery of parts and support.
  • Ensuring maintenance procedures follow OEM specifications and technical documentation.
  • Overseeing contractors and internal teams, driving accountability, safety, and quality.
  • Supporting maintenance budgeting and resource planning to meet operational targets.
  • Coaching and mentoring your team to maintain high standards of performance and safety.
  • Driving continuous improvement by identifying efficiency gains and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Responding to urgent breakdowns to minimise disruption to operations.
  • Promoting a strong safety and environmental culture across all maintenance activities.

What You'll Bring 

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and build a positive, safety-first culture.
  • Strong technical knowledge of maintenance practices, troubleshooting, and equipment relevant to mining or port logistics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially under pressure.
  • Effective communicator with strong organisational and planning skills.
  • A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement, efficiency, and team collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Australian-recognised Mechanical Trade Qualification (e.g., Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade).
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • Working at Heights Certification.
  • Confined Space Entry Certification.
  • Gas Test Atmospheres Certificate.
  • Section 26 training 
  • Current C-Class Driver’s Licence.

To be considered, you’ll need to have the legal right to work in Australia, be able to provide a National Police Clearance, and successfully complete a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening.
