The opportunity 

 

Reporting to the Contract Manager, the Mechanical Superintendent provides day to day supervision of a multidiscipline team in the planning and delivery of work, to meet safety, financial and productivity targets for a maintenance contract at a local power station. 

 

This role is fulltime permanent working from the power stations in Eraring 5 days a week. We are only considering local applications as it’s a DIDO role, so you much reside locally or be willing to relocate. 

  

What you’ll do 

 

  • Assist in preparation and coordination of Outage Schedules and estimates in a power station
  • Review & understand works scopes, develop resource plans and programs to meet financial and contractual targets and ensure that risks are identified and effectively managed
  • Understand and implement the works or services programme/schedule
  • Notify the Contract Manager of any changes to scope or delays
  • Maintain a diary of events, discussions, progress and resources
  • Ensure plant and labour is managed in accordance with Downer Processes
  • Ensure project quality requirements are understood and complied with
  • Ensure subcontractors are informed of site requirements and are adequately supervised.
  • Ensure client work order management systems are managed within compliance
  • Utilise Downer systems and processes to ensure that all costs are captured and allocated correctly
  • Utilise Commercial processes to manage & capture variations effectively
  • Coordinate supply and delivery of equipment, subcontractors, consumables, and project-specific requirements, in accordance with client/contract document specifications and in accordance with Downer Policies & Procedures.
  • Effectively monitor & control subcontractor & procurement commitments and costs.
  • Provide input where required into monthly financial reporting requirements
  • Assist in the financial management of projects by closely monitoring actual to budgeted spend on all projects associated with the client

What we’re looking for 

  • Trade qualification – mechanical preferred.
  • C Class Drivers Licence
  • White Card, Confined Space & Working at Heights tickets
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within the industry Experience or exposure within industrial plant. – Power Station experience would be an advantage
  • Exposure and experience with project planning, execution and delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams to achieve results and objectives
  • Experience in subcontractor engagement & management.
  • Experience in SAP work order management process
