Your opportunity


 


The Mechanical Street Sweeper Operator is responsible for executing the scheduled street sweeping program and participating in civil, marine, and vegetation maintenance tasks when sweeping operations are offline. The role requires efficient, effective work under limited supervision in line with Council standards and service agreements. The operator must be adaptable and capable of performing tasks within their skills, licences, and training, including working rostered shifts outside standard hours. Key duties include operating street sweeping equipment, recording data in asset systems, providing technical advice, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining equipment. The position also emphasises teamwork and professional communication to achieve positive outcomes and maintain a productive work environment.

  • Proven experience and ability to operate heavy plant such as mechanical street sweepers.


  • Demonstrated ability and physical fitness to perform a range of strenuous labouring tasks and functions for prolonged periods of time.




  • Demonstrated ability to pro-actively identify, report and effectively address any workplace safety hazards.




  • Demonstrated ability to effectively participate as part of a team.




  • Demonstrated ability to correctly apply, use and maintain street sweeping equipment and a broad range of plant, tools and equipment used in operational maintenance services.

Eligibility


 



  • You'll be able to participate in the after-hours on-call roster, including remote response and site-related operations over weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis.

  • You'll be available for early morning starts (from 3am) on a rostered program.

  • You'll have 3+ years' experience in the relevant field.

  • You'll hold a MR Licence and plant operator tickets or HR licence.

  • You'll hold a hold a Certificate II Civil Construction or equivalent.

  • To be eligible for employment, applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia.
