We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Project Engineer (Professional Engineer) to join Powertech on a major Rail Infrastructure Project.

 

Position Overview:

Super paid on all hours worked & great $$$ rates paid

  • Role: Mechanical Project Engineer– Rail Project
  • Roster: Monday–Friday (occasional Saturday as required)
  • Hours: 10 hours per day
  • Duration: 3–6 months (potential to extend)
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Location: Brisbane, QLD

 

Scope of Work:

  • Coordinate and deliver mechanical engineering activities across a major rail infrastructure project.
  • Support installation, construction, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems and associated infrastructure.
  • Manage project interfaces across mechanical, electrical, civil, and rail systems teams.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, scopes of work, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams to ensure works are delivered safely, on schedule, and to specification.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, forecasting, reporting, and progress tracking.
  • Monitor project risks, site productivity, and construction progress, providing solutions to support successful project delivery.
  • Support quality assurance processes including inspections, ITPs, NCRs, and commissioning documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, rail safety requirements, and project quality standards.
  • Participate in project meetings, toolbox talks, pre-starts, and stakeholder coordination activities.

 

About You:

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in mechanical project engineering within rail, infrastructure, mining, utilities, or major construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical construction, installation, testing, and commissioning processes.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced project environments and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and project delivery outcomes.
