Job Summary
We’re on the lookout for a Mechanical/Mechatronics Design Engineer to join our Sydney Dynalite R&D Team, a part of our global Signify R&D Team, which specializes in creating leading-edge Connected Building & Lighting Control solutions for residential, office, retail, hospitality, industry, sport and public indoor and outdoor space applications world-wide.
Key Areas of Responsibility
As a part of our Engineering Team located in Sydney, in your day-to-day work you will be responsible for developing, testing and releasing Lighting Controls & Energy Management Product hardware for our innovative Connected Lighting propositions, which are manufactured and deployed locally and globally on many iconic projects and landmark buildings.
You’ll also be brainstorming with the Team of passionate professionals locally and globally our next breakthrough innovation in Connected Lighting, turning customer needs into solutions and shaping the Design and Architecture of our Systems, to bring Human-Centric Lighting Solutions and Value Beyond Illumination to our Customers and Business Partners.
Critical Experiences
We are looking for a professional holding a Bachelor or higher degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, who can work in multi-disciplinary global R&D team.
Skills and knowledge requirements:
Minimum of 3 years’ relevant industry experience
Proficiency in 3D CAD design (SolidWorks); experience with Adobe Illustrator is an advantage
Strong knowledge of hardware design and testing methodologies, including plastic injection moulding, sheet metal design, and production assembly
Familiarity with FEA simulations (thermal and structural), as well as DfSS, Lean, DFM, FMEA, and value engineering principles
Understanding of compliance standards and the ability to apply them in practice
Basic knowledge of electrical design fundamentals (desirable)
Demonstrated hands-on practical skills with the ability to build and test prototypes
Understanding of project management fundamentals
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
