WHAT WE OFFER

  • Casual Role: DIDO outage, located at Tarong Power Station near Kingaroy, QLD

  • Project Dates: Staggered start dates from mid-September, running approximately until mid-November 

  • Roster: Monday to Saturday, Days/Nights, 11-hour shifts 

  • Competitive Rate: EBA rates $66.84 p/hr (including 25% casual loading) + OT Penalties (from base rate)

  • Other Benefits: LAFHA or Accommodation provided to distant workers

 

 

THE OPPORTUNITY

 

Downer’s Energy & Utilities business has opportunities for casual Mechanical Fitters for the Tarong Power Station outage. Commencing mid-September 2025, Downer will be working on a Hitachi steam turbine supporting with four main areas of scope - Valves, Turbine, Generator and Auxiliaries. In this role, you’ll disassemble, inspect, and reassemble steam turbines and valves, work with auxiliary systems, interpret technical drawings, and ensure precise alignment and safety compliance.

 

 

ABOUT YOU

  • Site Proficient: Previous outage and project experience in the power generation or heavy industrial sector

  • Technical Skills: Proven experience working on steam turbines and valves, including inspection and measurement of critical components 

  • Team Oriented: Have an ability to work effectively within a team with well-developed communication skills

  • Workplace Safety: Committed to safety and wellbeing of yourself and your colleagues

  • Trade Qualified: Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade, or equivelant

  • Hold Valid Tickets: Enter and work in confined spaces (RIIWHS202E) & Working at heights (RIIWHS204E) (within 2 years), Construction white card, Rights to work in Australia.
