Mechanical Fitter

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our team, responsible for maintaining and repairing building equipment and mechanical systems at the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH). You will work closely with the maintenance team to perform fault finding, servicing, installations, and preventive maintenance on HVAC and central plant mechanical systems. The role includes supporting risk assessments, safe work practices, and working across a 24/7 shift roster, 5 days on, 2 days off.

• Perform fault finding, routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and new installations on HVAC and mechanical systems within the hospital environment.
• Maintain all fixed equipment in line with company, contractual, legislative, and safety requirements.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of Risk Assessments, Safe Work Instructions, and Job Safety Analyses, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
• Comply with and promote workplace health and safety standards, ensuring a safe, hazard-free working environment.
• Collaborate effectively with other trades and departments to support maintenance objectives and deliver exceptional service to customers.

• Certificate III in Mechanical Fitting & Turner or equivalent trade qualification, with relevant licences (White/Blue Card, Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry).
• Strong mechanical aptitude, including experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and data accurately.
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively under a 24/7 shift system.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, reliability, teamwork, and clear communication in a high-pressure environment.
