What We’re Looking For:  Do you have a Recognised Tradesman’s Certificate in Mechanical Fitting/Turning and would like to join the Mechanical Maintenance team and work in the Major Plants Team?

About this role:  This role has primary responsibility for undertaking a wide range of duties related to repairs, maintenance and installation of mechanical equipment at Water and Sewage Networks operated by Icon Water in the ACT and surrounding region. You will be required to undertake scheduled preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with task priorities, deadlines and process operations.

 You will also be required to:

  • Respond to and undertake reactive maintenance tasks in accordance with task priorities, deadlines and process operations.
  • Co-ordinate task completion within available team resources, operational & procedural constraints and systems availability.
  • Complete documentation and reporting requirements in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Participate in an emergency on-call roster as required to provide a 24 hour, 7 day a week breakdown and maintenance service.
  • Assist in the preparation of preventive and breakdown maintenance work orders, the recording of maintenance history, the development of maintenance programs and the scheduling of maintenance activities relating to mechanical systems.
  • Assist in the identification of workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments and perform work in accordance with implemented safe work practices and procedures.

Who we are looking for: We’re seeking a dedicated individual who can work as part of a team and with an ability to work under limited direction and supervision who has, a high level of self-motivation, self-reliance and initiative and has:

  • Demonstrated ability, skills and experience to perform maintenance duties on various types of pumps, valves, gearboxes and other process industry equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience working under and in accordance with a comprehensive safety system.
  • ACT Class C Drivers Licence or equivalent.
  • Experience in machining and welding techniques.
  • Required to obtain and maintain the following qualifications/certifications:
  • Electrical rescue
  • First Aid / CPR
  • Construction Induction Card
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Work at Heights
  • Medium Rigid Vehicle
  • Forklift
  • VMC
  • Dogman
  • Fluoride Awareness
  • BA / Chemical Suit
  • Asbestos Awareness
