THE ROLE

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining mechanical systems and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as part of a team - ensuring timely updates, reporting and ongoing communication with other team members.

Working as a part of our maintenance team you will be required to travel interstate from time to time to help solve problems that arise on various sites. Flexibility with interstate travel and ability to be on call when needed is a non-negotiable for this role.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install mechanical systems and equipment according to specifications
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical systems and equipment to ensure operational consistency
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues working to quickly resolve issues to avoid lengthy shutdowns
  • Work collaboratively with the larger manufacturing and maintenance team to ensure project targets and expectations are met
  • Travel interstate when needed for maintenance of equipment (rolling roster)
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics to better diagnose issues and find resolution
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Keep accurate records of work performed using our digital tools (Notion)

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience with mechanical fault finding
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a great understanding of mechanical principles
  • Experience working on pneumatic and hydraulic equipment and systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Experience working on pump systems
  • Good welding skills (Stick/MIG)
  • Good general fabrication skills
  • Completion of a mechanical apprenticeship program or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
