Rombola Family Farms encompasses over 4,000 hectares of intensive irrigated horticultural production at Griffith (NSW), Bundaberg (QLD) and Mataranka (NT). Agricultural enterprises include Seedless Watermelon, Rockmelons, Broccoli, Pumpkin, Almonds and Winegrapes. Operations include primary production, processing, value adding and marketing.
We are seeking a passionate and driven Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team in Nericon, NSW. The successful applicant will play an essential role in the day-to-day operations of our farm. You will play an essential role in ensuring the smooth operation of our farm’s machinery and equipment . This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about agriculture and eager to learn and grow in a dynamic farm environment.
Key accountabilities include:
• Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment used on the farm
• Assist in the installation, modification, and commissioning of mechanical systems
• Conduct routine maintenance checks and inspections to ensure machinery is operating efficiently
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns in a timely manner
• Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to design, modify, and improve existing systems
• Document all maintenance activities, including maintenance schedules and equipment repairs
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and farm health regulations
• Provide technical support and advice to the farm management team and operators
• Assist in the training and mentoring of junior technicians and operators
• Work with farm management to plan and implement maintenance schedules and upgrades
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
• Have a diploma or relevant qualification in mechanical engineering or a related field
• Possess experience working with agricultural machinery, pumps, engines, and mechanical systems
• Be highly skilled in mechanical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Possess excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Be proactive in identifying potential issues and suggesting improvements
• Have a solid understanding of safety procedures and practices in the workplace
• Be able to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
• Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to operate farm machinery
• Previous experience in a farming or agricultural environment is highly desirable
