Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Team Leader in our Hot Mills Engineering Team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers

This dynamic role offers the opportunity to expand your skills in managing a team of Mechanical Engineers and Drafters, while overseeing a portfolio of projects all the way through concept to execution across key plant areas. You will play a crucial role in project evaluation and implementation, as well as coordinating the teams technical support of the wide range of existing equipment.

What Will You Do?

In this role, you’ll deliver high-quality solutions to enhance asset performance, focusing on continuous improvement outcomes to drive better operational practices, site development, and safety outcomes. You will also:

• lead and provide high level technical direction and support to the mechanical engineering team and to Hot Mills operations.
• manage the workload of the mechanical team supporting Hot Mills including the drafting team.
• provide engineering support for the day-to-day operations of the plant.
• lead and deliver mechanical and at times multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
• keep abreast of appropriate, leading-edge solutions & opportunities in your field of expertise, sharing this knowledge with the mechanical engineering team.

More About You

You will possess natural leadership abilities and a strong passion for investigation and problem-solving, consistently driving results-oriented outcomes, and an ability to manage and coordinate a range of work fronts. In addition, you will bring:

• degree qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
• engineering experience in a heavy industry environment
• experience in managing multi-disciplined projects
• leadership experience in an industrial workplace
• experience in developing and promoting capital management practices
• experience in 3D modelling applications
