Job Description

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our team at one of our offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, or Adelaide. In this role, you will facilitate the safe delivery of projects by undertaking mechanical design, project management, and administration for the successful completion of our projects. You will interface with key stakeholders to ensure that project timelines, milestones, and key requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities:

Design:

Contribute to the mechanical design process of projects by providing process planning, conceptual, and detailed sustainable, value-engineered designs for large-scale desalination and water treatment plant projects. You will present these designs to key stakeholders.

Duties include:

  • Planning and mechanical design.
  • Developing and completing technical calculations, technical documents, and schedules, including procurement specifications.
  • Preparing and managing digital design information related to drawing registers, transmittals, change request documents, etc.
  • Preparing and presenting D&C cost estimates.

Project Delivery:

  • Developing and compiling project documents, communicating with clients and partners on points of clarification, coordinating and providing inputs to site visits, project progress, and technical meetings.
  • Ensuring the selection, construction, and installation of mechanical equipment meet the mechanical design and project specifications.
  • Managing the scoping, definition, specification, and tendering during the procurement phase.
  • Coordinating and filing project documentation, including tender and contract documents, correspondence, safety, quality, and environmental records.
  • Contributing to the development of management plans, functional descriptions, commissioning, ITPs, performance tests, and O&M documentation.
  • Managing the resolution of non-critical project issues through the collation and analysis of relevant information and making appropriate recommendations.
  • Communicating with the project team, third parties, and head office counterparts on specific technical issues in civil, electrical, and other areas.
  • Completing requests for quotations for mechanical vendor equipment.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Contribute solutions to improve the project within your field of action.
  • Glean pertinent information from the project and convey it in training activities.
  • Propose new solutions that meet the project’s needs.
  • Make presentations within the project or externally.
  • Present and prepare documents accurately and effectively.
  • Maintain working relationships with clients and vendors in business support activities, project follow-up, or analysis of requirements.
  • Coordinate planning, resources, and enforce the deadlines of the parts of the project assigned to you.

Required Skills and Competencies

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Naval Architecture).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in installation engineering for water treatment plants and desalination plant projects.
  • Proven capability in managing mechanical and electrical installation of equipment and materials.
  • Strong experience in planning, managing, and executing the construction and installation phases of a project.
  • Extensive subcontractor supervision experience for M&E, including budget control and ensuring project delivery within schedule.
  • Comprehensive understanding of design/installation, including lift rigging, handling aids, production of lift sequence work packs, fabrication, transportation, and installation methods.
  • Strong customer relationship management skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Deep knowledge in mechanical and electromechanical installation practices.
