We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team during a critical power station outage. In this role, you will be at the heart of ensuring operational integrity and safety at this power station located just south of Newcastle, NSW. This is your chance to make an impact in the energy sector by contributing to the maintenance and enhancement of critical infrastructure.

Key responsibility areas

  • Conducting comprehensive plant inspections with a focus on identifying deficiencies, wear, and potential risks
  • Ensuring all mechanical systems comply with industry standards, safety protocols, and operational requirements during the outage
  • Analyzing components and equipment, including turbines, boilers, heat exchangers, and pumps
  • Preparing detailed reports and recommendations for repairs or improvements
  • Collaborating with plant personnel and contractors to maintain smooth workflow and address issues efficiently
  • Managing timelines and resources to ensure the outage project remains on schedule and within scope
  • Supporting quality assurance processes and documenting inspection findings for future planning and upgrades

 

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in heavy industry or power station operations, specifically in outages, shutdowns, or maintenance is preferable
  • Knowledge of engineering standards and asset management practices
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical equipment such as pipelines, pressure vessels, rotating machinery, and structural components
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work as part of a high-performing team
  • Commitment to workplace safety standards and practices
  • Ability to remain flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced outage environment
