About the position

Reporting to the Construction Manager and working in a close knit, supportive team, you'll be responsible for managing all aspects of Engineering Design and Commissioning of HVAC systems as well as providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff.

Based in our Clayton Head Office, this position would suit an experienced mechanical engineer who’s keen to broaden their experience and capability within the building services industry.

Duties will include:


  • Contributing to competitive Tender submissions, managing all aspects of the engineering tender process;

  • Preparing designs and documentation, including equipment selections, heat load calculations, hydronic and duct system design, sizing and layout preparation, system static calculations and scheduling plans;

  • Developing concept mechanical services layouts and designs, through to QA checking of workshop drawings for construction;

  • Engaging with stakeholders regarding project requirements, specifications and service delivery; and

  • Providing Engineering and technical leadership, mentoring and advice to staff.

About you


  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering;

  • At least 5 years relevant experience;

  • Sound knowledge of Australian mechanical engineering design standards, codes and practices would be an advantage (NCC, Greenstar, Nabers);

  • Expertise in Equipment Selection, duct design, static calculations, compliance checking of Mechanical systems and controls;

  • Ability to review supplier quotations and vetting for technical compliance and project suitability;

  • High level ability to maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders ;

  • An energetic approach to problem-solving, possessing a great “can-do” attitude;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with advanced computer skills.
