The Role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will:


  • Work closely with clients, including architects, builders, and contractors, to design efficient, sustainable mechanical systems for a variety of projects.

  • Coordinate project milestones with internal teams to ensure seamless project delivery and adherence to client specifications and regulatory standards.

  • Support project phases, from design through to completion, identifying and implementing improvement opportunities.

  • Guide junior engineers and support staff, fostering technical development and upholding ADP’s standards of excellence.

  • Prepare project reports, highlighting key performance areas and cost-effective solutions.

About You

We’re looking for someone with:



  • Experience: 7-12 years of experience in mechanical engineering in Australia.


  • Technical Expertise: Excellent mechanical engineering knowledge, particularly in HVAC systems for new and existing buildings.


  • Plantroom Proficiency: Ability to walk into a plantroom and understand the existing systems.


  • Existing Building Knowledge: Ability to investigate existing systems and their suitability for reuse or options to upgrade.


  • Sustainability Knowledge: Understanding how HVAC systems impact sustainability performance of buildings.


  • Multidisciplinary Knowledge: Good general knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems, including the ability to interpret Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) to assess spare capacity or suitability for new installations and understanding of pumped and gravity hydraulics.


  • Report Writing: Strong ability to write comprehensive reports and produce high-quality work, with attention to detail and pride in the appearance.


  • Industry Knowledge: Reasonable understanding of energy usage, carbon impact, and the broader industry context.


  • Continuous Learning: Demonstrated commitment to staying updated with industry standards and best practices.


  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software
